Kalahari Education Experience Project (KEEP)
KEEP's mission is to work together with educators and local communities to inspire, motivate and empower students to reach their potential through teaching, advocacy and the provision of necessary resources and support. Fellow students and teachers work in collaboration with schools from around the world that are committed to enhancing and sustaining the education of the people in the Moshaweng Valley of South Africa, as well as developing the character of participants to grow into socially responsible global citizens.
This past summer, I took part in their yearly two- week trip; after preparing throughout the previous academic year. We meet almost every week to discuss how we will prepare for the trip, and what projects need to be worked on while on the trip. Taking part of the trip truly was a life changing experience that I will never take for granted. It taught me lessons beyond words, ones that only those who have experienced the trip can understand. Coming back from the trip not only taught me valuable life lessons, but it has also shifted my mindset on matters such as my desired career path and selection for increasing the challenge I receive within my academic studies.

Girl Up
Girl Up is a campaign of the United Nations Foundation, which aims to help impoverished adolescent girls by providing them with access to education, health services and leadership opportunities. Other students within the club and I work to raise awareness and funds to help support girls in third-world countries with opportunities surrounding security, safety, health and education. We also aims to empower girls in their local community to discuss and tackle female issues. Events include advocacy campaigns such as Food for Facts, Awareness Days, a Charity Fashion Show, and guest speakers. All proceeds from fundraising events are donated to the United Nations for girls in third-world countries.
Amnesty International (AI)
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights. We meet regularly and hold events to discuss, raise awareness, and raise money (for Amnesty International) to recognize the violation of human rights across the world. When our club members meet, we also write letters to send to governments to raise the matter of cases within their country that violate human rights, to their attention.
Student Athletic Council (SAC)
The Student Athletic Council works with the Athletic Department and Athletic Booster Club to promote sports and support athletes. Participation includes planning pep assemblies, half time shows, promotion of athletic events, organizing senior recognition night, end of season banquets, and more. My job within SAC is "public relations" I make sure that whatever events we are promoting are put into the morning bulletin so that the school is aware of them.
